I still can't believe what Not So Basic Ballcaps has grown into. I wanted to take a moment to share our journey and tell you a little about the "crazy" lady behind the hats.

My name is Brittany, and I've been a nurse for... whew... a long time now! The majority of my career has been in pediatrics, which has led me to where I am today. I currently serve as the Nursing Administrator for a pediatric clinic in my hometown which just so happens to also be the birthplace of LSU Football.

I also have two amazing children who keep me busy almost every minute of every day. I always joke that I spend most of my time being their personal taxi driver! My daughter does completive cheer and is more like me than I like to admit. My son is our little baseball crazy loving boy who just started playing football. He can tell you so many LSU facts its honestly kind of concerning but I guess if you love it you love it right? He is also a HUGE mama's boy.

My husband, Travis, is an absolute saint. He has supported every crazy idea I've ever had, and most of the time he just smiles, shakes his head, and says, "Well... okay then." I truly couldn't have grown NSBB without him. We are a family all about baseball, cheerleading, stadiums, ballparks, and anything/everything LSU. I can tell you this if we are not at home we are at some ballpark or stadium. 

How It All Started

People often ask how Not So Basic Ballcaps began.

The truth is, I was in between jobs, sitting at home with my now 10-year-old cheerleader, wondering how in the world we were going to afford Disney Nationals. I decided to start making custom patch hats with beaded chains, and what started as a way to help pay for one trip quickly turned into something much bigger.

We still have a crazy amount of patches, and we absolutely love hosting patch parties because, honestly, what's more fun than designing your own hat?

The Journey

One of our first major milestones came on July 21, 2025, when I released the first updated NSBB design—the original Wildcats hat. It sold out... not once, but TWICE! That was something I never imagined would happen.

From there, we started creating hats for schools, sports teams, baseball organizations, businesses, and just about anyone who had an idea. If someone asked, I was determined to find a way to make it happen.

One accomplishment that will always hold a special place in my heart was designing hats for my alma mater, Parkview. Seeing those designs come to life in 2025 was something I never thought I'd have the opportunity to do, and I'm still incredibly proud of them.

Then came another huge milestone.

On February 22, 2026, I launched my very first collection, The Diamond Drop. It was the largest collection I had ever released and the first produced with my new manufacturing company. I spent months reviewing samples, comparing materials, perfecting measurements, and fine-tuning every detail until I had a hat I truly loved—one I knew my customers would love too.

Then, on May 6, 2026, I took the biggest leap of faith yet.

I signed the lease on the new NSBB office.

For the first time, Not So Basic Ballcaps had a place to call home. I never imagined my little business would grow enough to need its own office, but it absolutely did—and I couldn't have been more grateful.

The very next day, May 7, 2026, my first production order arrived.

More than 900 hats showed up at my house.

To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. I was excited, terrified, thankful, and wondering if I had completely lost my mind—all at the same time.

Then, on June 12, 2026, another unbelievable milestone happened.

We received our 1,000th website order.

I cried.

I laughed.

Then I just sat there staring at the screen because I couldn't quite believe it was real.

And now... here we are.

It's July 2026, and we're preparing to release two brand-new football collections. Watching this dream continue to grow has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
